Switch to Chloramines

The City of Eden will make a switch to chloramines on August 14 as the secondary disinfectant similar to the chlorine disinfectant they have been using. This is a treatment system used for many years by nearby cities such as Reidsville, Greensboro, High Point and Burlington. Chloraminated water is safe for drinking, bathing, cooking and all other general uses; however, kidney dialysis patients, fish and aquarium owners, and specialized industries may need to take precautions. Over the next several weeks, you will see City of Eden employees flushing hydrants throughout the city to move the chlorinated water out of the system and the chloraminated water into the distribution water lines.

If you have specific questions or concerns, please call Water Plant Superintendent Dena Reid at 336-627-1009, ext. 131.
