Police Chief

The Police Chief’s office performs all administrative functions to include strategically planning the departmental goals and objectives from a long/short term perspective; projects and develops budgetary needs for the department and provides a justification to management; monitors monthly budget via purchasing; develops purchasing specifications; writes grant proposals.

​​A native of Eden, Reece returned home after graduating from Appalachian State University and joined the Eden Police Department in May 1990. Reece worked as a Patrol Officer and Investigator prior to being selected to attend the 186th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. After graduation from the eleven-week training session through the University of Virginia, Reece also received his General Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission. Reece is married to Valerie, an educator, and they have one daughter – Ainsley, who is 12 years-old. When not working, Reece enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
